Siesta Key Village
The
Village
is essentially Siesta Key's main commercial street. It has a
lot of restaurants and shops for tourists and locals. One of
my personal favorites is the Siesta Key Oyster Bar.
Siesta
Key Oyster Bar
The last time we went to the
S.K.O.B. they were
under construction building a new kitchen. The restaurant
next door was being gracious enough to share their kitchen with them.
We
sat down on the front wooden deck, so we could enjoy the
Siesta
Key weather while watching people stroll on by.
As soon as our waitress came up I ordered a dozen fresh
oysters. I think it's the first time my kids have seen their
dad eating raw shellfish. They were good sports and each
tried one, and only one.
My wife and I on
the other hand finished the rest, putting a little dab of hot sauce on
each one of those little delights. I was surprised to find
out that they are farmed in Pensacola, Florida. Being from
here you would think I should somehow know these things.
After
our appetizer, we ordered some basic beach grub. Things like
buffalo chicken wings and pizza. They were all very good,
especially considering they had to cook them in another places kitchen.
As
we where leaving I noticed the half dozen or so television sets with
all the football games on them. They must have a package of
sorts since most of the games were not on regular cable.
Just because your on vacation doesn't mean you have to miss
the games!
